TESOL Trainers is offering its popular Summer SIOP Institute remotely. This four-day workshop provides educators with a clear understanding of the SIOP © framework, a set of highly engaging model lessons,  practical TESOL techniques, and tips that encourage excellence in teaching and in learning.

SIOP © (Sheltered Instruction Observation Protocol) is a K-12 framework that supports educators in planning, teaching, and reflecting on their lessons. Participants in this remote training session will be able to implement Sheltered Instructional strategies and TESOL techniques that prepare all students for success. 

This SIOP © training is a powerful means of gaining ELL Professional Development.

This live, remote workshop gives teachers a solid look at the SIOP © model of instruction and how it is used in K12 schools to set all students up for success.  Through a series of model lessons and interactive experiences, participants will:

• Determine the principles of SIOP © and how they can be used to support learning.
• Identify the eight components of SIOP ©and how they support teaching and learning.
• Create SMART language and content objectives.
• Develop eight strategies for teaching academic language in all contexts.
• Gain 10 strategies for making content comprehensible to all learners.
• Acquire the ability to use the Gradual Release of Responsibility to scaffold students.
• Develop skills at creating think time for students.
• Use cooperative grouping and pair sharing to promote oral language development.
• Promote effective academic listening and viewing skills.
• Gain strategies to integrate the four domains of language in every lesson.
• Increase the variety & volume of student interactions with language and content.
• Develop the ability to engage students in meaningful ways 90-100% of the time.
• Hone the ability to ignite metacognition skills in learners.
• Provide a meaningful review of language and content using four recycling strategies.
• Gain skills in planning, teaching, and reflecting on lessons.
• Use the Conscious Competence Matrix to promote teacher development.
