Feature 27 focuses on reviewing key vocabulary. Feature 28 is its companion: reviewing key content concepts.
The difference matters. Vocabulary review ensures students know the words. Content review ensures students understand the ideas.
A comprehensive content review at the end of a lesson is not “Does anyone have any questions?” That is not a review. That is an invitation for silence.
A real content review is structured, active, and involves every student .
Students write one key idea they learned and one question they still have. This takes two minutes and gives you immediate data on comprehension.
Partner summaryStudents turn to a partner and take turns summarizing the lesson's key concepts. Each partner has 60 seconds. The teacher circulates and listens.
Concept mappingStudents create a quick concept map connecting the day's key ideas. This visual review helps students see how concepts relate to each other.
Return to objectivesGo back to the content and language objectives posted at the beginning of the lesson.
Ask students: “Can you do this now? Show me.”
This closes the loop and models goal oriented learning.
